Updates from the Island…

We apologize first of all to our loyal customers for not updating our schedule on our website in July when the changes were made!  Please check the store hours, noting in particular that the Island is now closed on Mondays AND Tuesdays, and that the store opens at 11am, except on Sundays. Fall has arrived, and most tourists have left Santa Cruz, but flower sales at Island Home and Garden have been brisk, with leis, bridal arrangements, and party flowers on order every weekend.  We continue to get our flowers from Hawaii and Thailand every week, and recently have received beautiful ‘speckled’ orchid stems, and a new purple mokara orchid.  Please note too that tuberose season remains fully current and fresh bunches arrive every Friday morning – the fragrance is beautiful. 2014 Graduations – Order Your Hawaiian & Thai Orchid Leis Now!...

Please order EARLY for your graduation leis. We order in many orchids in many colors, and can only guarantee that we have what you want if we have a lei order with your name on it! Barb and Robyn made many leis last weekend for San Jose State in purple and gold, which were very festive in the school colors. The next 3 weeks will  be busy for us, so please check out our Leis Page here on our website, and choose from our many styles and price options. Men: the ti leaf leis have also become very popular for the guys, and look great draped on a graduation robe! Stand out from the crowd! Send us a picture of your graduate wearing a lei from Island Home and Garden, and we will post it on this website! (Use Email address islandhomeandgarden@gmail.com)   Share...

Customer feedback for Wedding flowers!

We always love to hear from customers that are highly satisfied with our arrangements – especially from newlyweds! We recently received the following Email:   “I just wanted to say THANK YOU for the beautiful wedding flowers. They were even more beautiful than I imagined. I loved that you incorporated the dahlias as that is Will’s favorite flower and the colors were just perfect.  It was a gorgeous, magical day! Kristin Kelso-Blankenship”   Share...

Welcome to our new Summer Intern!

My name is Vainui. I’m from Tahiti, and I study in a business school there.  I’m here in Santa Cruz for a 2 months’ internship at Island Home and Garden that I was able to obtain thanks to Amy Culver, who’s my mom’s friend. I arrived at Island Home and Garden in the middle of the graduation week (which is one of the busiest weeks of the year) but it wasn’t a big deal for me because I know how to make leis, both crown or haku, because I used to dance in a Tahitian dance group, where we have to make our whole costumes with flowers, leaves, seashells, and other natural materials. So during this busy week I made a special lei that a customer ordered for his daughter, and a crown for a lady. I’m very glad that I could be of help. For now, my main goal for this internship is to make contact with some Tahitian companies so that I could import products to make a Tahitian corner in the Island Home and Garden store. So be ready, the Tahitian corner is coming soon, and I know you will like it! Share...
