Summer is here! First of all, a very big Thank You from Barb and Robyn for all of the support we received during the graduation season.  We made many leis for many graduates, and appreciated immensely all of the referrals from friends and customers, and our colleagues in the Santa Cruz floral community. After taking a deep breath and returning our store to normal, we decorated the “Woodies on the Wharf” event for its annual celebration.  There were two large displays of...
UltraDerm MedSpa Open House... Two weeks ago, the tropical flowers from Island Home and Garden were prominently displayed at UltraDerm MedSpa on Mission Drive for their annual Open House.  We were asked to create a green and white theme in each treatment room and a large arrangement for the reception area.  The event was very well attended and we received many compliments on the flowers, some of which we brought in especially from our Hawaiian shipper for the featured reception area vase.  ...
New Artwork – Beautiful Blown Glass... The latest artwork to appear at Island Home and Garden comes from Los Osos.  Rod Baker is an independent glass artist, and we have a nice display of his colored blown glass ‘ornaments’ shaped as starfish, hearts and flowers.  Every piece is hand-crafted, and they are remarkable for their vibrant colors and patterns. The pieces are placed throughout the store, and in a glass cabinet near the window which shows off their individual coloring. Drop by and take a...

Updates from the Island…

We apologize first of all to our loyal customers for not updating our schedule on our website in July when the changes were made!  Please check the store hours, noting in particular that the Island is now closed on Mondays AND Tuesdays, and that the store opens at 11am, except on Sundays. Fall has arrived, and most tourists have left Santa Cruz, but flower sales at Island Home and Garden have been brisk, with leis, bridal arrangements, and party flowers on order every weekend.  We continue to get our flowers from Hawaii and Thailand every week, and recently have received beautiful ‘speckled’ orchid stems, and a new purple mokara orchid.  Please note too that tuberose season remains fully current and fresh bunches arrive every Friday morning – the fragrance is beautiful. Congratulations, and Thank You!

Now that Graduation season is over, Barb and Robyn send many congratulations to all the graduates who wore leis from Island Home and Garden. Despite being so busy making the leis, we were able to imagine you all at the various ceremonies throughout Santa Cruz and the Bay Area, and felt we were part of your happy events! We would also like to Thank You for your business during the busy months of May and June.  We made close to 350 leis for the month, and during the busiest week in June, shipped in 9000 blooms in boxes (the purple and white orchids), plus many other colored orchids on stems which we stripped to make those gorgeous tutti-frutti leis.  The orchid refrigerator (and many coolers) kept everything fresh, and we are happy to say we used almost every last orchid that week! Barb and Robyn sincerely appreciate your business, and wish all of the graduates the very best in the career paths you have chosen. Share...
